Hey there, foodies! Shef Sid here with a deliciously tangy and sweet twist on a classic favourite – Baked Sweet & Sour Cauliflower! This dish is a true flavour explosion in your mouth, and it’s super easy to make. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients:

1 large cauliflower head, cut into florets

One cup all-purpose flour

One cup water

1 teaspoon salt

One teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Cooking spray

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Fresh cilantro leaves (for garnish)

For the Sweet & Sour Sauce:

1/2 cup ketchup

1/4 cup rice vinegar

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/4 cup water

1 teaspoon ginger, minced

1 teaspoon garlic, minced

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray.

Step 2: Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, water, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until you have a smooth batter.

Step 3: Coat the Cauliflower

Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, making sure it’s fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off, then place the coated florets onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure to leave some space between each floret for even baking.

Step 4: Bake the Cauliflower

Bake the cauliflower in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy, turning them halfway through.

Step 5: Make the Sweet & Sour Sauce

While the cauliflower is baking, let’s make the irresistible sweet and sour sauce! In a saucepan, combine ketchup, rice vinegar, honey, soy sauce, minced ginger, and minced garlic. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth, then add it to the saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Once it’s thickened to your liking, remove it from the heat.

Step 6: Combine Cauliflower and Sauce

Once the cauliflower is done baking, transfer it to a large mixing bowl. Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the cauliflower and gently toss to coat each floret with that amazing sauce.

Step 7: Garnish and Serve

Place your saucy sweet and sour cauliflower onto a serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for some crunch and freshness, and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves for that final burst of flavour.

Step 8: Enjoy!

Serve your Baked Sweet & Sour Cauliflower immediately as a delightful appetiser or a side dish. It’s so delicious; it might just steal the show at your dinner table!
